In meeting these challenges, less aggressive sprayed concrete accelerators and more efficient equipment for the application of sprayed concrete have been developed. Coupled with this, new and innovative technologies for improving the watertight-ness and fire resistance of tunnels are examples of current initiatives in European tunnelling.
