With 3000 beds inside and one million+ square feet of housing that comprise an entire city block, Jester Center at the University of Texas, Austin is recognised as the largest dormitory in North America. When the State Fire Marshall mandated that the University retrofit all of its high-rise residence halls, the biggest challenge was deciding how to complete the retrofit on time and what to do with the thousands of students who lived there.
