Sales and the 'Talent Magnet'

A lot is written about being a ‘Talent Magnet’, either as a company, or as President. It’s all good practice – listen, mentor, reward, provide clear goals and career maps. Good practice for the employer, but what about the employee?

Innovative connection technology and uncompromising quality

By Weidmüller

Weidmueller Interface GmbH & Co. KG | www.weidmueller.com

Weidmüller is the one-stop shop for the railway industry, offering a whole array of different products around the world.

For some 50 years now, Weidmüller has been developing components to cope with the harshest possible conditions in the railway industry, such as vibration, shock and greatly fluctuating climatic conditions, including terminals, connectors, housings and marking systems. Products that are free of hazardous substances are in daily use in rolling stock all over the world: they can be found in the driver’s console, in the brakes, and in traction motor connections, for example – in other words, wherever electronics are involved. As one of the leading market suppliers, Weidmüller caters for all sorts of different electrical connection technology needs in the railway industry. Weidmüller has the advantage that it can act as a single source for sometimes vastly differing product requirements.

Diverse solutions

All Weidmüller components are based on innovative platform concepts and are modular in nature. They are therefore highly flexible and can be used according to the customer’s specific needs, be it internally or externally on high-speed trains, trams, underground systems or locomotives. The modules are designed with quick and easy mounting in mind and feature connections that can be disconnected quickly, thus reducing maintenance costs. This is not at the expense of quality, however, as Weidmüller’s railway industry products are extremely reliable and comply with stringent international norms. Weidmüller offers a comprehensive array of standard solutions and can also provide tailor-made solutions and alternatives.

Unlimited quality

The tracks, the railway and all the integrated components require an especially high level of uncompromising quality. The most important criteria are a long lifespan, resistance to vibration, shocks and temperature fluctuations, and a high level of electromagnetic compatibility, and Weidmüller subjects its products to very strict quality management. As a result, all of its railway industry products comply with the most stringent of safety requirements in addition to the following international railway norms and standards: the general railway standards EN 50155, EN 50343 and NF F 61-017, shock and vibration resistance in accordance with IEC 61373/RIA 20, and fire behaviour according to DIN 5510 part 2, NF F 16-101, BS 6583 and ASTM E 162. Weidmüller tests all its products in its own, accredited lab. The testing laboratory includes a climatic chamber, an EMC measuring facility, and impact and jarring equipment. Each and every product is put through a range of extreme tests before it, and the materials it is made of, are qualified as suitable for railway use.
